Saturday July 19 | 7:30 PM | Deer Valley® Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater

Vince Mendoza, Conductor

Mary Chapin Carpenter will join the Utah Symphony for a very special evening of songs from her debut orchestral record, Songs From The Movie, which was released January 14, 2014. Arranged and conducted by six-time Grammy Award winner Vince Mendoza (Sting, Diana Krall, Elvis Costello, Joni Mitchell) and produced by Carpenter and Mendoza along with Matt Rollings (Keith Urban, Lyle Lovett), Songs From the Movie harkens to Carpenter’s love of classic film and symphonic music. The album features new interpretations of ten beloved songs by Carpenter, from “Come On Come On” to “On And On It Goes” to “I Am A Town” and “Goodnight America."

Over the course of her career, Carpenter has recorded 13 albums and sold over 13 million records, won five Grammy Awards, was named the Country Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year in 1992 and 1993, has won two Academy of Country Music awards, one Emmy award, and, in 2012, was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Her songs speak to the most personal of life’s details and the most universal.

This very special performance will feature Carpenter alongside the Utah Symphony and will feature original orchestral arrangements from Vince Mendoza.
