Two runners up will receive a pair of vouchers to Deer Valley® Music Festival.

What do you need to do?

  • Participate individually or form a squad between two and six people.
  • Post pictures to Instagram of your squad completing each task and hashtag #DVMFadventure, tag us @utahsymphony, and include the challenge number. Submit all of your entries through ONE Instagram account. (example: We just completed challenge #4 #DVMFadventure @utahsymphony)
  • Collect the most points to win the grand prize! Points will be tallied based on the value of the completed challenges and the amount of “hearts” your photo submissions receive.
  • Tell your friends! The amount of “hearts” your photos receive is part of your score! We suggest you post about your upcoming adventure before the event date to start rallying your friends for support.
  • Be creative, you receive a bonus point for each photo that has #DVMF visible within the frame of your submitted photo.
  • The contest period begins on 6/19/15 at 12:00 AM and ends on 6/28/15 at 11:59 PM, all of your challenges must be completed and submitted within that time frame! Make sure your Instagram account is set to public or we will not be able to view your submissions.

How do the points work?

The Grand Prize Winner will be calculated based on the value of the points of the completed challenges and the amount of “hearts” the squad received from on their submission posts. 10 “hearts” equal one point, five rounds up. Each post can earn two bonus points by including the word “#DVMF” within the frame of the photo.


  1. 5 Points: Nourish body and soul during your adventures with a stop at Squatters.
  2. 5 Points: Strike a pose with a Stein Eriksen Statue.
  3. 5 Points: Everything’s more funicular at the St. Regis, take a ride!
  4. 5 Points: Let the funicular times continue; catch the Champagne Sabering ceremony on the Mountain Terrace
  5. 5 Points: Enjoying the elevation? Try the famous 7452 Bloody Mary.
  6. 5 Points: Get a bulls-eye at the Montage.
  7. 5 Points: Find a Brass Tag at The Brass Tag at Deer Valley Resort.
  8. 5 Points: Give standup paddle boarding a try at Deer Valley Resort.
  9. 5 Points: Take a photo during a ride on the scenic chairlift at Deer Valley Resort.
  10. 5 Points: Take a break at the market and recharge with coffee at Hyatt Escala.
  11. 4 Points: Catch some speed at the Park City Mountain Resort on the zipline, alpine slide or coaster.
  12. 4 Points: Sleep under the stars.
  13. 4 Points: Snap your silliest selfie at the Park Silly Sunday Market.
  14. 4 Points: Try a Utah favorite; make a Dutch-oven Dinner.
  15. 4 Points: Show off the skills you’ve learned from camping; make a tin-foil dinner.
  16. 4 Points: Show your competitive spirit; try the high-ropes course or zipline at Utah Olympic Park.
  17. 4 Points: High five a fury friend at Furburbia!
  18. 3 Points: Make an instrument out of natural or found objects and play a song.
  19. 3 Points: Be your own star; film yourself lip-syncing an opera.
  20. 3 Points: Pack a picnic; what’s in your DVMF picnic basket?
  21. 3 Points: Show us that you want s’more summer concerts.
  22. 2 Points: Take a photo with a wild resident on Main St.
  23. 2 Points: Sing your heart out at the top of a mountain.
  24. 2 Points: Air conduct your favorite orchestra movement while you’re on a hiking trail.
  25. 2 Points: Spot and identify a wild animal (not a bear!).
  26. 1 Point: Take a picture with your favorite herd (think antlers and bunny ears).
  27. 1 Point: Play a song outside.
  28. 1 Point: Paint by number; take a photo beside the colorful Kimball Art Gallery logo.


Utah Symphony | Utah Opera (USUO) may change the dates and/or terms of the Contest without prior notice. Any material change will be posted on the Utah Symphony blog page ( In order to be eligible, contestants must submit photographic proof of completing challenges by posting a photo on Instagram with the hashtag #DVMFadventure, the challenge number, and tag @UtahSymphony. (example: We completed challenge #4 in the #DVMFadventure @utahsymphony.) Contestants may submit photos individually or as a team (squad) of up to six people. In the case of a team of two to six people, submissions must be made from one Instagram account. Photos not submitted during the Contest Period or after the Deadline will not be considered.



Contest is open to all legal U.S. residents (“Participant”) who are 18 years of age and older at the time of entry residing within the states of Utah, Idaho, or Wyoming. Limit to one entry per household. The Contest is void where prohibited by law. Employees or agents of Utah Symphony | Utah Opera and their household members are ineligible to participate in the Contest.

The Contest Period will begin on Friday, June, 19, 2015 at 12:00 a.m. (Mountain Standard Time) and all entries are due by 12:59 PM, Mountain Standard Time, on June 28, 2015 (“Deadline”). The winner will be announced on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter on July 1, 2015.


Grand Prize Winner (1): To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit proof of the challenges you completed by posting a photo on Instagram with the hashtag #DVMFadventure, the challenge number, and tag @utahsymphony before the Deadline. Participant does not need to be in attendance to win. The Grand Prize Winner will be calculated based on the value of the points of the completed challenges and the amount of “hearts” the participant received from their Instagram networks on their submission posts. 10 “hearts” equal one point, five rounds up. Each post can earn two bonus points by including the word “#DVMF” within the frame of the photo. The grand prize includes tickets to the following Deer Valley Music Festival Concerts: Disney’s Fantasia, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Ozomatli, and Diana Krall, a two-night stay in a one bedroom suite at the Hyatt Escala, a scenic chairlift ride for two at Deer Valley® Resort, four (4) $25 gift cards to Squaters, three (3) sauces and three (3) rubs from Big Daddy Hill's BBQ Sauce company, and a gift basket filled with Disney goodies. Entrants participating as individuals will receive two tickets per concert. Entrants participating as teams of two to six people will receive the amount of tickets equal to the size of their team for each concert.

Second Place Winners: The two runners-up will receive a pair of vouchers for use on select Deer Valley Music Festival performances.

USUO assumes no responsibility or liability for damages loss or injury resulting from acceptance or use of the prize. USUO reserves the right to substitute a prize or any component of a prize with a prize of comparable value should the original prize be unavailable, regardless of reason. USUO is not responsible for misspellings in posts and hashtags or with problems with posting due to proper Internet access. USUO has the right to disqualify any Participant for inappropriate behavior including vulgarity and nudity. USUO, in its sole discretion, may award prizes to entries received by alternate means. Decisions of USUO are final. Winner must produce identification satisfactory to USUO prior to being awarded Prizes.


By submitting a Contest entry, Participant represents, warrants, acknowledges and agrees that Participant: (i) has read and meets the eligibility requirements; (ii) has submitted viable contact information; (iii) understands that if any of the information submitted is false or incomplete, it will void the Participant’s entry to the Contest; and Participant (iv) agrees to be bound by these Official Contest Rules. USUO in its sole discretion reserves the right to disqualify any Participant it finds to be tampering with the entry process, the operation of its website or is otherwise in violation of these rules. In exchange for the right to participate in the Contest, each contestant agrees to release, discharge, and hold harmless USUO, and its officers, directors, agents, representatives, and employees from any and all alleged and/or actual claims, demands, losses, settlements, liabilities and/or causes of action of any nature or kind whatsoever, whether presently known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen (including, without limitation, bodily injury, personal injury, death, disability and property damage), and costs and expenses (including without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees, court costs, settlement and disbursements) directly or indirectly that arise out of the Participant's participation in the Contest. USUO is not responsible for technical, hardware, software or telephone or other transmission failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections or incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, regardless of cause.


Information collected from Participant is used in accordance with Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s privacy policy at and for purpose of the Contest and to notify winners. Information collected will not be sold or shared in any manner by USUO or any third parties.


All federal, state and local taxes and any other costs, fees and expenses associated with a prize are the sole responsibility of the winners, where applicable.


The conduct of the Contest is governed by the applicable laws of the United States of America, which take precedence over any rule to the contrary herein.
