Singer-songwriter Ben Folds brings his singularly subversive rock to Utah in a performance with the Utah Symphony that will prove what a great rock band the orchestra can be! Backed by orchestrations that highlight Folds’ songwriting skills, fans will hear the indie-rock piano melodies, and irony-laced lyrics of his greatest hits.

What better way to launch our Chamber Orchestra concerts than with Schumann’s vivacious “Spring” Symphony and the virtuosic fireworks of Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1 featuring Stradivarius Competition winner Yoonshin Song. Associate Conductor David Cho begins the program with Ravel’s sublime elegy, Pavane for a Dead Princess. A beautiful way to enjoy great music in the intimacy of St. Mary’s Church.

Grammy-nominated wind quintet Imani Winds will kick off our 2010 Chamber Ensemble Series with a performance featuring diverse music that bridges European, American, African, and Latin American music traditions.

The Utah Chamber Artists join Utah Symphony for an evening of inspiring choral music in the intimate setting of St Mary’s Church. Bach’s ever-popular Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 will showcase the orchestra’s virtuosity along with the bookends of Howells’ a capella Requiem and four traditional folk songs, including the ballad "Danny Boy" will demonstrate the choir’s forte.

Guest conductor David Lockington returns for four concerts beginning with this evening’s program featuring the passionate Serenade in C Major. The program begins with the ever popular Rossini Overture to Italian Girl in Algiers followed by Utah Symphony Principal Oboe Robert Stephenson joining the orchestra in Mozart’s famous Oboe Concerto in C Major!
